French broadcasters jump into SALTO
This morning France TV, TF1 and M6 Groups said they have reached an agreement to build a common French OTT platform, named SALTO. The platform should provide advanced catch up services, live channels, exclusive content and premiers, including shows from other broadcasters. We believe the project goes in the right direction, highlighting the growing move of traditional free to air broadcasters towards pay TV business models. However, significant challenges lie ahead for SALTO to be a success.
