Cubic to Highlight Integrated Training Environments with Synthetic Wrap Demonstration at I/ITSEC 2016

Cubic Global Defense (CGD), a business unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB), today announced it will perform live training demonstrations of its Synthetic Wrap capability at the 2016 Interservice/Industry Training Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, Florida from November 28 to December 2. As the world’s largest modeling, simulation and training conference, I/ITSEC is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the theme, “Pushing the Training Envelope: Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC),” led by the United States Air Force.

During the five-day event, Cubic will showcase its approach to the LVC and integrated training environments with live, in-booth demonstrations of its Synthetic Wrap solution. Synthetic Wrap blurs the boundaries between the live and virtual environments; live trainees who are instrumented, using Cubic’s tactical engagement system, are injected into the digital world while on a training exercise, which also integrates live and virtual, friendly and opposing forces. The trainees, who are now shown on digital training terrain, can be tracked and attacked from a virtual unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), close air support (CAS) platform or any live or virtual artillery within range. Cubic Defence UK has been leveraging this Synthetic Wrap capability for Micro-SCOPIC, the British Army’s Collective Training Synthetic Wrap program, since earlier this year as the sole provider in Canada, Kenya and the U.K.

“The nature of contemporary operations is changing how the missions are fought, and modern tactical training systems must be able to meet both the kinetic and cognitive elements of hybrid warfare in order to deliver the training needs of an increasingly diverse and specialized audience,” said Dave Buss, president of Cubic Global Defense. “Cubic’s Synthetic Wrap is an emerging training technology using game-based technology and expeditionary Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks, to ensure that the hard-to-train warfighters and complex military capabilities can, for the first time, play an integrated role in training and accreditation at the individual, team and collective levels.”

Cubic will showcase its instrument live training capabilities with state-of-the-art tactical simulation solutions at the following dates and times in booth #1549:

  • Monday, November 28: 3:00-3:30 p.m. and 4:30-5:00 p.m. (local time)
  • Tuesday, November 29: 1:00-1:30 p.m., 3:00-3:30 p.m., and 5:00-5:30 p.m. (local time)
  • Wednesday, November 30: 10:30-11:00 a.m., 1:00-1:30 p.m., and 4:00-4:30 p.m. (local time)
  • Thursday, November 31: 10:30-11:00 a.m., 12:30-1:00 p.m., and 2:00-2:30 p.m. (local time)

During the in-booth demonstration, Cubic will be streaming live video feeds from Cubic’s U.K. training facility allowing anyone with a smart device to observe the exercise via web link (http://scopicuk.ddns.net/WEBDirector/CUBIC/OMMainDemo.aspx). Utilizing the video feed, in-booth participants can get hands-on LVC training experience in ground-based air defense, joint fire observation and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance integration.

Attendees can visit Cubic at booth #1549 at the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Follow Cubic Global Defense at @CubicDefense on Twitter and join the social conversation with #SaferWorld and #IITSEC.
