Cubic to Offer Insight on Intelligent Transportation at UITP Global Public Transport Summit

Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS), a business unit of Cubic Corporation (NYSE:CUB), today announced that its executives will discuss topics related to “LEAD the TRANSITion,” the theme of the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from May 15 – 18. CTS will also demonstrate how the company and its transportation agency clients are leading innovation in the sector.

“Managing the transportation demands within the available infrastructure is critical today, and continues to grow as the global population becomes more urbanized. This must be managed by intelligent use of travel patterns and behavior to more equitably distribute traveler loads on the public and private transportation networks,” said Matt Cole, president of CTS. “Cubic’s NextCity vision brings together the technologies needed to support this equity.”

CTS executives will present at the following sessions:

  • “Mobility as a Service – from vision to reality,” during the “Next Steps in the Ticketing Journey” session;

    Monday, May 15; 11:00 – 12:30 p.m. (local time); Level 5, 513A;

    Presenter: Andy Taylor, director of strategy at CTS.
  • “Planning: system, trip and mobile apps,” during the Focus Session A;

    Tuesday, May 16; 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (local time); Level 5;

    Presenter: Ken Karnes, business development director of mobile technologies at CTS.

In addition, the following Cubic innovations and projects will be on display at the conference at booth 2L136 in Hall 2 from Monday, May 15, to Wednesday, May 17, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (local time) at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal.

  • Gateless Gateline: a prototype system that integrates future ticketing technologies including biometrics to support a doubled rate of passenger throughput. The fast-track entry system is designed to meet a projected doubling in the number of passenger rail journeys over the next 30 years. The program is being developed at the Cubic Innovation Centre in London, partially funded by a grant from the U.K.’s Railway Standards and Safety Board. This will be the first public showing of this prototype technology and system.
  • The Cubic Virtual Ticket Agent: a hybrid of a virtual walk-up ticket office and ticket vending machine video-linked to a live operator at a call center. The system helps public transit agencies to decrease or eliminate the need for customer service representatives at the least busy stations on a rail line, improve customer service at unattended devices and more easily address clients speaking different languages.
  • Mobile ticketing and trip planning: various demonstrations of mobile ticketing and trip planning including the Chicago Transit Authority’s Ventra system mobile app, as well as a bar code-based mobile ticketing app Cubic deployed in Germany.
