DeVry University to Launch its First Coding Bootcamp in Denver

DeVry University is entering the accelerated skill-development space with a suite of programs under the DeVry Bootcamp name - with its first offering, an immersive, full-stack web development program. Kicking off in the Denver market Nov. 11, the coding bootcamp combines the technology, heritage and networking scale of DeVry University with Boulder-based RefactorU to accelerate the learning and development of aspiring coders who are passionate makers and creative problem solvers.

Conducted at DeVry’s campus in Westminster, Colorado, the 10-week JavaScript bootcamp is a full-time, hands-on program that helps students achieve proficiency in both front- and back-end web application development, teaching them the skills and tools of the trade. By the end of the bootcamp, students will have a portfolio that demonstrates their skills to industry employers and attend a DeVry Bootcamp career fair to network with local employers.

“Colorado has been experiencing a tech skills gap for a number of years1, making Denver an ideal location for our first coding bootcamp,” said Shantanu Bose, provost and vice president of Academic Excellence at DeVry University. “With an increasing demand for professionals in the tech space, and specifically in coding, our bootcamp will help equip local students with the necessary skills in a growing and rewarding field.”

According to Code.org, a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, there were more than 13,900 unfilled computing jobs in the state in 2014. Denver was also named among the top 20 North American cities for high-tech job growth 2012-2014, according to CBRE Group, Inc.2

DeVry Bootcamp’s full-stack web development program will help Denver-area students learn essential coding skills, prepare them to better represent their personal brand, and expand their professional network.
