INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
The Finish Line Youth Foundation announced today its award of $159,750 in grants and $250,000 in donations for Special Olympics in the first quarter of 2017. The 22 grants to youth organizations in 13 states support healthy lifestyles and youth development. The Foundation’s financial commitment to Special Olympics supports fitness initiatives that focus on helping athletes with intellectual disabilities nationwide live a healthier lifestyle.
“The Foundation is fortunate to be a partner of these fantastic organizations to help them impact deserving youth in communities across the country,” said Marty Posch, Finish Line Youth Foundation president. “These exciting projects will move our mission of empowering youth through health and wellness forward.”
The Finish Line Youth Foundation supports qualified non-profit organizations that provide community-based access to athletics for children and camps that provide services to those who are disadvantaged or disabled.
The deadline to submit grant applications for youth organizations online for this quarter is June 30, 2017.
LEGACY GRANTS:
Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (Oakland) – $50,000 to renovate outdoor and indoor basketball courts in Oakland’s Chinatown neighborhood that serves 5,000 kids.
The Skills Center (Tampa) – $21,300 to renovate an 8,000 square foot gymnasium which will serve 800 at-risk youth.
CAMPS:
Camptown, Inc. (Indianapolis) – $3,000 for Natural Wonders Day Camp serving 500 urban and suburban youth.
Camp Healing Tree (Indianapolis) – $1,850 for Camp Healing Tree for 70 grieving children and teens.
Camp Rainbow (Schwenksville, Pa.) – $5,000 to support development and life skills programs which serving 470 financially, emotionally and socially disadvantaged youth.
Community Health Network Foundation (Indianapolis) – $5,000 to support Camp Erin bereavement camp for 96 children and teens who are grieving.
Down the Line and Beyond (Philadelphia) – $5,000 for summer tennis camp serving 300 kids from three under-resourced Philadelphia neighborhoods.
Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida (Boca Raton, Fla.) – $5,000 to support equine therapy summer camp for 35 children with special needs.
Halos (Charleston, S.C.) – $4,000 to provide summer camp scholarships for 120 kids who have been abused and neglected.
Kingsley House (New Orleans) – $5,000 to support an eight-week summer camp for 225 at-risk youth ages 5-12.
Outside the Box (Indianapolis) – $5,000 for Camp Create U empowering 40 youth ages 6-10 with developmental disabilities.
Promises2Kids (San Diego) – $5,000 for Camp Connect for 260 youth in foster care who have been separated from their siblings.
Safe Crossings Foundation (Seattle) – $5,000 for Camp Erin King County serving 110 grieving children ages 5-18.
The Boggy Creek Gang (Eustis, Fla.) – $5,000 to support Camp Boggy Creek for 140 seriously ill children.
The Bridges Foundation (Birmingham, Ala.) – $5,000 for the 2017 Teen & Family Camp serving 60 kids living with an organ transplant.
The Sanneh Foundation (Bloomington, Minn.) – $5,000 to support deaf and hard of hearing inclusion soccer camp for 140 youth.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLES:
Children’s Bureau (Indianapolis) – $1,600 to support a martial arts and yoga program serving 45 children in crisis at the children’s shelter.
Erie Neighborhood House (Chicago) – $5,000 for an expanded learning program for 258 at-risk youth.
Girls on the Run of Bexar County (San Antonio) – $5,000 for their after-school running program for 120 at-risk girls.
Girls on the Run of The Rockies (Aurora, Colo.) – $3,000 to support their low-income school running curriculum benefiting 5,600 at-risk girls.
Maryhurst (Louisville, Ky.) – $5,000 for a health and wellness program serving 150 girls ages 11-18 with severe emotional disabilities.
Trips for Kids (Denver) – $5,000 for Earn-A-Bike obesity prevention program serving 300 at-risk and disadvantaged youth.
