GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) today announced an initiative with AMN Healthcare aimed at helping address the critical shortage of radiologic technologists (rad tech) in the healthcare industry. This initiative helps healthcare providers meet their immediate staffing needs through AMN Healthcare’s comprehensive workforce solutions and GE HealthCare’s innovative technologies and training expertise.
Several factors contributing to the current shortage of rad techs include burnout, often caused by emotional exhaustion and feeling underappreciated at work, and the impact of COVID-19 or COVID-related policies impacting rad techs.1 Globally, 42% of clinicians are actively considering leaving the healthcare industry.2 In addition, as the U.S. population ages, and demand for radiology services and exams increases, the number of radiologic technologists graduating from rad tech schools has not kept pace with demand.3

Through this initiative, GE HealthCare can provide training on GE HealthCare technologies, including Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Interventional Vascular, Xray, Nuclear Medicine, PET and Mammography, coupled with AMN Healthcare’s solutions to help ensure healthcare providers have access to trained professionals who can quickly integrate into clinical settings and deliver immediate impact for healthcare providers.
