Humana Adds Award-Winning Emotional Well-Being Mobile App Stop, Breathe & Think to Wellness Rewards Program

With depression as the leading cause of disability worldwide, prioritizing emotional health — as well as physical well-being — is critical as it can affect employee motivation, medical costs and overall well-being. To further promote peace of mind, Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) has announced the addition of the award-winning Stop, Breathe & Think mobile app to its Go365TM wellness and rewards program. This collaboration, which marks the first mindfulness partner for Go365, means participating employers can offer their employees a fun and personalized tool to promote overall physical and mental well-being.

The mission of Stop, Breathe & Think — a 2017 Webby’s People Voice Award winner for Best Health App — is to help the world find peace of mind anytime and anywhere. The app will leverage the Go365 platform to provide goals, incentives and tips to guide employees on their well-being journey. In addition to being incentivized for activities, like running or yearly flu shots, Go365 users will now be able to earn rewards for taking a few minutes to breathe, an action the developers believe will become as habitual as going for a 30-minute run.

“Addressing stress and anxiety is a critical and complementary part of any wellness journey,” said Julie Campistron, CEO and co-founder of Stop, Breathe & Think. “We’re proud to collaborate with a company that shares the belief that tools to influence healthy habits need to be fun, easy and rewarding. Integrating our app into Go365 allows us to plug into a proven incentive system and to bring our award-winning experience to the platform's growing audience.”

Promising research has found that a mindful approach may help ease the effects of stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Stop, Breathe & Think prompts users to input how they are feeling and then tailors short mindful activities to those emotions to help alleviate stress or anxiety. This personalization and responsiveness, combined with a lighthearted and friendly tone of voice, have proven to be effective in helping people adopt this new habit.

A study from the American Management Association states that 85 percent of companies believe mindfulness helps employees to control stress; additionally, 82 percent cite increased productivity.

“Humana is committed to improving emotional health because it is a key driver of overall well-being,” said Nate Kvamme, Vice President, Humana Wellness Solutions. “By encouraging mindfulness practice, in addition to physical health, employees can improve overall health and earn rewards for their health journey.”

Go365 is available through users’ smartphones, tablets or desktops. In addition to Stop, Breathe & Think, Go365 syncs with a multitude of apps and devices in fitness, nutrition, sleep, and health education.
