Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water, announced today that Cyient, a global provider of engineering, manufacturing, data analytics, networks and operations solutions, has won Itron’s Ignite Innovation Challenge at Itron Utility Week in Orlando, Florida. The contest invited IoT developers to create a connected, resourceful solution to address pressing challenges that is built on the Itron Riva™ platform, the first-of-its-kind distributed intelligence platform that supports sensing technologies and dynamic applications at the device level.
Developed by Cyient’s team, the Cyient Power Chargers, the winning project is a mobile and web application for outage management that predicts and proactively communicates outages to customers. The application enables immediate communication to affected customers on outage incidents and restoration status, while also enabling customers to report an outage. It provides a visual look and feel of the outage and restored areas for both the consumers and field crew. The utility’s operations can use the near real-time outage notifications to quickly predict fault locations.
