Students and teachers at Insight School of Michigan (ISMI), an online public charter school authorized by Central Michigan University, will begin the 2017-18 academic year on Sept. 5th. ISMI provides students in grades 6-12 throughout the state with a tuition-free, personalized approach to learning.

Built on the understanding that every student faces unique challenges, ISMI provides struggling students with the academic, emotional, and social support needed to succeed in high school and beyond.

The school’s unique Social and Emotional Learning Program helps students to build up their self-confidence and interpersonal skills. The online learning environment allows students to spend more time with the subjects and lessons that are more difficult for them, and advance more quickly in areas where they excel. Dedicated teachers have required live class sessions and communicate regularly with families via email, phone and with one-on-one online meetings. Class sessions are also recorded so students have the opportunity to go back and attend the class again.

ISMI’s Family Academic Support Team (FAST) empowers students to overcome challenges in and outside of class. Teachers and other support staff help all students stay on track with their courses. Students in need of additional support can access ISMI’s remediation program, which uses a targeted approach to skill building. Students have access to career and college counseling, and school leaders regularly connect them with community-based resources throughout the state.
