PRINEVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Insight School of Oregon-Painted Hills (ISOR-PH), an AdvancED accredited online public charter school, will celebrate the Class of 2017 with an in-person graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at the University of Portland’s Buckley Center Auditorium.
Sixty-one students will graduate from ISOR-PH, an innovative middle and high school option for college and technical career-minded students throughout the state. The school offers traditional academic subjects, as well as two career-focused tracks for students: business and healthcare. Successful completion of these courses helps students prepare for industry certification tests after graduation.
ISOR-PH students have completed their academics online and developed friendships virtually, and graduation provides an opportunity for them to celebrate together. The school offers student clubs and social events, but many of the students will be meeting in person for the first time.
“The Class of 2017 is ready to use the skills they’ve gained here to make an impact in their communities,” said Timothy Jalkanen, head of school at Insight School of Oregon-Painted Hills. “We are so proud of their growth and look forward to seeing what they each will do next.”
Graduating senior Savannah Sommerville will address her classmates at commencement. Jalkanen and board president Chet Edwards will also deliver remarks, and ISOR-PH teachers and staff will be in attendance to recognize the students’ achievements.
Members of the Class of 2017 have reported that they will attend a number of colleges and universities across the state, including Oregon State University, Portland State University, Portland Community College and Mt. Hood Community College, as well as the School of American Ballet in New York City.
