SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Los Angeles-area students enrolled at iQ Academy California-Los Angeles (iQLA), an online public charter school authorized by the Rowland Unified School District, begin the 2017-18 school year on Aug. 28, simply by turning on their computers.
Operating since 2010, iQLA is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade who reside in Los Angeles, Kern, Orange, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties.
iQLA’s personalized learning approach lets students learn in the ways that are right from them, helping students become independent, self-motivated learners. California-credentialed teachers guide students through individualized learning plans focused on each student’s unique learning needs, goals and interests.
“At iQ Academy, our students and teachers are a close-knit community of learners,” said Cathy Andrew, head of school at iQLA. “Our passion is providing students with a different way to learn – a way that suits them. We want to be a home for students who need something just a little bit different.”
The school’s rigorous and engaging curriculum includes classes in core subjects like English/language arts, history, math, science, music, art and world languages. A wide selection of academic and career-focused electives is also available for high school students, who also have access to college placement advice and job and career counseling. In addition, qualified students can earn college credits in select courses through concurrent enrollment, which is available in partnership with local colleges.
iQLA offers opportunities for students to connect with their classmates through online clubs, in-person field trips and social events, and service learning outings.
