Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy to Open Largest Blended Learning Center

On Wednesday, March 8, Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy (LAVCA,) an accredited, full-time online public charter school, will celebrate the opening of its third blended learning center with a ribbon-cutting. The new center, located in Baton Rouge, will help support the nearly 2,000 students across Louisiana already benefitting from LAVCA’s unique online curriculum.

The Baton Rouge Blended Learning Center (BRBLC) will serve students in grades 6 -12 and is available to students enrolled at LAVCA. Blended learning offers Louisiana students the opportunity for in-person instruction and remediation in all core subjects with a state-certified teacher. LAVCA families are welcome to participate in blended learning at any one of the school’s three facilities across the state -- Baton Rouge, Monroe, or Lafayette -- on a drop-in basis.

“At LAVCA, our students are encouraged to accelerate in the subjects at which they excel and, at the same time, are given time for remediation in the subjects where it’s needed,” said Danielle Scott-Johnson, Head of School at Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy. “That’s why we are so excited to open this new blended learning facility to serve even more Louisiana students who are interested in face-to-face instruction.”

Ribbon-cutting details are as follows:

LAVCA is now welcoming families with students in kindergarten through 10th grade to enroll for the 2017-18 academic year. Open to all students who reside in Louisiana, LAVCA combines online instruction, hands-on curriculum and the support of Louisiana-licensed teachers to cultivate an individualized education for each student.

During the enrollment period, LAVCA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families and to learn more about the curriculum provided by K12 Inc., the nation’s leading K-12 curriculum provider.
