Students Return to Insight Schools of California for 2017-18 School Year

Students at Insight Schools of California (ISCA) will begin their 2017-18 school year on August 28, simply by turning on their computers. This marks the fourth year of operation for the accredited online public charter schools, which help high school students who have struggled to find success in a traditional brick-and-mortar school setting get back on track.

ISCA serves students in grades 9-12 who reside in Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura counties. As a public school option, there is no tuition.

Experienced California-credentialed teachers and professional school counselors at ISCA assess where students are academically deficient, then work closely with them and their parents to create individualized learning plans that map to each student’s unique needs, personal interests and college and career goals. ISCA teachers provide the assistance, guidance and personalized support to help each student succeed.

“At Insight Schools of California, we offer our students a place where they feel like they belong and can be successful,” said Kimberly Odom, head of school at ISCA. “We may be the only option left for these students, but we welcome them and we believe in them and know that they can succeed.”

ISCA also offers a social and emotional learning (SEL) program, which helps students increase their self-confidence and interpersonal skills. During the school year, students meet twice a week in online advisory sessions to discuss topics that are relevant to their lives. The goal is to build confidence, create a sense of belonging and equip students with skills to make responsible decisions.

Students can also take advantage of ISCA’s quarter-system model. This program enables students to concentrate on just three courses each quarter (typically a nine-week period) and often helps students get back on track and graduate from high school on time.

ISCA is still accepting enrollments for this fall. For more information, please visit http://ca.insightschools.net.
