HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Students and teachers at Virginia Virtual Academy (VAVA), an online public school, will start the 2017-2018 school year on Aug. 28th. Available to students across the Commonwealth in grades K-10, VAVA offers a rigorous and engaging curriculum and a supportive learning community.
The virtual school offers a personalized approach to learning that ensures every student receives an excellent education. VAVA’s online platform gives students the flexibility to pursue their academic goals at a pace that is appropriate for them. Advanced learners can progress quickly, while those who find concepts more challenging can take the extra time they need.
“With online school and personalized instruction, we can offer our students the flexibility and support they need to succeed,” said Suzanne Sloane, head of school at Virginia Virtual Academy.
VAVA students tackle a full course load in the core subjects of language arts, math, science and history across all grade levels. Lesson plans in each grade are integrated across subjects, so students can apply what they are learning in one class to the lessons they encounter in another.
Virginia-certified teachers facilitate live, interactive online classes, and are also available to students by phone and email. Students become adept at using technology for their course work, projects and time management, and have the opportunity throughout the year to meet their teachers and classmates in person, through school outings, field trips and social events.
