Learning Tree Launches Advanced Management Training to Drive More Value from IT Investments within Federal Agencies and Private Sector Organizations

Learning Tree International, Inc. (OTCQX:LTRE) announced today the launch of advanced management training courses to demonstrate the importance of developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for IT management and maturity.

These new IT training courses leverage the ‘IT Management Maturity Model’ developed by subject matter experts from the American Council for Technology – Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC). The Maturity Model, which combines best practices from government and industry, is already being used by several federal government agencies to gain an objective understanding of how their IT organizations are truly performing, and to improve their ability to deliver effective and efficient services and to protect Federal IT assets and information.

“In just about all organizations, regardless of whether they are private sector or government, IT has become not only indispensable but also a critical differentiator to how an organization performs. Having organizational IT management maturity – that is the ability to effectively maximize the use of IT for an organization’s business and mission objectives – becomes a crucial component for overall organizational success. And while the Maturity Model was initially developed to support government agencies, the tenets of the model are just as applicable to private sector organizations.” stated Richard A. Spires, CEO of Learning Tree and Executive Vice Chair of the IAC Executive Committee. Mr. Spires authored both courses, drawing on his varied professional expertise, including his CIO roles at the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the IRS, as well as his work supporting ACT-IAC to develop the IT Management Maturity Model. As an expert on IT, Mr. Spires has testified before Congress numerous times regarding recommendations to address the range of federal IT management, acquisition, and operations issues.

Course Offerings Include:

These 2-day courses can be extended to a 4-day workshop, giving attendees the opportunity to work with an expert instructor to self-assess and create an action plan customized to support maturing IT management in their organization.

“ACT-IAC is proud to partner with Learning Tree International to offer these new courses as part of the ACT-IAC Academy. These courses are based on the ACT-IAC IT Maturity Model, Phases 1-3, which is a good example of government and industry collaboration and how ACT-IAC provides a neutral forum to address technology related challenges”, states Ken Allen, Executive Director, ACT-IAC. “We hope that federal CIOs and their key staff will be able to leverage this resource to better government, improve their FITARA scores from OMB and achieve their agency’s mission.”
