Macquarie Capital Strengthens Global Real Estate Platform

Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investing arm of Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX:MQG; ADR:MQBKY), today announced the appointment of Prabhu Raman and John Wieker as Managing Directors in Macquarie Capital’s Real Estate Group. They are both based in Macquarie’s New York office.

Mr. Raman was previously at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was the Global COO and Portfolio Manager for the Global Real Estate Investments division. In his role, Mr. Raman oversaw structuring and operations for the $3B Merrill Lynch Real Estate Principal Investments unit investing in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia on balance-sheet and through funds, focusing on building and managing joint ventures and operating platforms. In addition, Mr. Raman was responsible for all operational processes for the business unit including real estate asset management, counterparty strategy, fund structuring and portfolio reporting. Mr. Raman started his career as a real estate and finance attorney, working for a number of global law firms as well as the Attorney General’s office in Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Wieker brings more than 15 years of real estate investment banking experience, having executed over $40 billion of M&A transactions and $50 billion of public capital markets offerings. He was most recently a Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking at Citigroup Global Markets, where he lead deal execution for REIT, private equity and hedge fund clients across a range of property sectors, including multifamily, retail, office and industrial.

Mr. Raman received his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), majoring in Finance and Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B) from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He is an Admitted Attorney in Australia, New York and California. Mr. Wieker received his MBA from Columbia Business School and his BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
