Mastercard Launches Digital Vendor Directory to Assist Customers with Their Tokenization and Digital Wallet Development Efforts

As adoption of digital payment becomes more prevalent in every corner of the globe, Mastercard continues to work with its partners to create a more open, connected and secure ecosystem. Mastercard today announced the launch of its Digital Vendor Directory, a list of vendors that provides more options for Mastercard customers seeking digital payments services and solutions.

The Digital Vendor Directory was developed to help Mastercard customers identify vendors they may engage to more easily and quickly tokenize and digitize card portfolios and deploy their own Masterpass-enabled digital wallets, using the service provider of their choice. The directory lists both global and regional vendors and provides information about each vendor’s digital offering and geographical presence. In addition, each vendor is assigned a level of standard, gold or platinum, reflecting the vendor’s readiness level in integrating with Masterpass and with the Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES). The directory currently lists a total of 28 vendors, including the following platinum or gold-level vendors: AEVI, equensWorldline, Giesecke & Devrient, Netcetera, Payair Technologies (platinum level), Sparkling18, uPaid and Ximedes.

“We have been a pioneer of digital commerce innovation for years and we are excited to be working with so many great partners to deliver new digital payment options to our issuers and cardholders around the world. Our Digital Vendor Directory will make it easier for issuers to learn about a wide range of digital offerings available to them, and is another way in which Mastercard is able to provide more choices for our customers and help bring digital payments for all cardholders,” said Kiki Del Valle, senior vice president, Digital Payments & Labs at Mastercard.

Cardholders want to be able to use their Mastercard when, how and where they want – and will choose the digital option that best suits their day to day needs. Mastercard is working to ensure that every one of its accounts is as digital as the people using them, and alongside its customers is designing rich, innovative, compelling and secure ways to pay across all channels and devices. The Masterpass digital payment service supports multichannel, multi-device commerce to enable a wide range of consumer shopping preferences. By adding digital payment functionality through Masterpass, customers can enhance and differentiate their existing product suites, including their mobile banking applications, and integrate its proprietary services – e.g., balance display, purchase alerts and paying with points. Mastercard and customers, together through Masterpass, provide the simplicity, trust and value consumers need to embrace digital payments.

Support for the Mastercard Digital Vendor Directory

  • “At Payair Technologies, we are proud of our strengths in innovating the payment space and at the same time delivering with quality, following the highest security standards and regulations. Banks are naturally cautious when planning and deploying new products that potentially can affect payments for millions of end users. Our experience and proven track record makes this process much easier for our customers. Mastercard is providing an open ecosystem, which benefits both financial institutions and fintech companies. With the Digital Vendor Directory, financial institutions get scalable and global digital payment infrastructure solutions, while fintechs get access to APIs, documentation, sandboxes and trustworthy certifications in order to create innovative solutions,” said Sören Babra, CEO and founder of Payair Technologies.
  • “We are proud to be listed in the Mastercard Digital Vendor Directory,” said Stefan Auerbach, Group Executive Mobile Security at G&D. “The G&D Convego Hub solution is key to our digital offering, and with integration to MDES it enables seamless access to secure mobile payment services, adding new options to Mastercard issuers. In addition, it provides manufacturers of wearables, mobile devices and other wallet issuers with secure and convenient payment functionality.”

Mastercard customers can currently access the directory through their Mastercard Connect account. Mastercard anticipates the Digital Vendor Directory will grow throughout 2017 as additional vendors serving more markets participate, and plans to expand the directory later this year for use by additional digital partners.
