Morgan Stanley Commits $5 Million to NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund (LDF)

In response to protests across the country and around the world in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, Morgan Stanley has announced a contribution of $5 million to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund (LDF) to support its work in fighting for racial justice and will match the donations of all U.S. employees to the organization.

“We are proud to support the Legal Defense Fund which is the leading organization fighting racial discrimination in the U.S.,” said Thomas R. Nides, Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley. “We hope this contribution and support of Morgan Stanley employees will encourage other corporations to support the LDF at this critical time in our country.”

The LDF is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. The funds raised by Morgan Stanley will support programs related to the policing reform campaign, voter rights activities and COVID-19 relief.
