Morgan Stanley Employees Build New Playground in New Orleans as Part of Healthy Cities Program

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) today announced that over 200 Morgan Stanley and community volunteers will build a playground at Dunbar Elementary as part of the Morgan Stanley’s Healthy Cities initiative. Joining forces with Choice Foundation and KaBOOM!, volunteers will give area kids the play space they deserve. Having access to safe play spaces is at the heart of the Healthy Cities New Orleans program, which delivers integrated nutrition, health and play programming to local children and their families. The design for the new playground is based on children’s drawings created at a special design event in March.

“We are proud to be back in New Orleans continuing our Heathy Cities New Orleans program,” said Joan Steinberg, Global Head of Philanthropy, Morgan Stanley. “Thanks to the collaboration with our amazing nonprofit partners and employee volunteers, we are able to further strengthen the network of wellness, nutrition, and play services available to children in need in New Orleans.”

Through Healthy Cities, Morgan Stanley is collaborating with national and New Orleans area non-profit organizations, including the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana to connect otherwise separate programs and create a linked package of wellness education and screenings, nutritious foods and safe play spaces for children in underserved New Orleans neighborhoods.

Since Healthy Cities New Orleans launched in May 2016, the initiative has delivered over 155,000 healthy meals, over 700 health screenings, regular fitness and play programs for over 1,000 kids, and with this new build, safe play spaces for over 1,000 children. Morgan Stanley employees are integral for implementing and sustaining the programming and provided over 1,000 hours of volunteer service.

Morgan Stanley Healthy Cities was launched in 2014 and has since delivered programming in Chicago, IL; Newark, NJ; Oakland, CA; London, UK; Cleveland, OH; Houston, TX; Mumbai, India; New Orleans, LA and Baltimore, MD.
