MACOM’s Bidirectional 12G-SDI Equalizer/Cable Driver Selected by Village Island for New TICO SDI Converter

MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), today announced with Village Island that its MAEQ-23764 Bidirectional 12G-SDI Equalizer/Cable Driver has been selected for the recently announced VICO-4 TICO Serial Digital Interface (SDI) Converter.

The MAEQ-23764 Bidirectional Equalizer/Cable Driver enables the VICO-4 system to configure the BNC ports to be either inputs or outputs, depending on the settings of the system. The VICO-4 uses Visually Lossless TICO compression to compress 4k60p 4:2:2 10bit video over a single 3G-SDI link. MACOM’s MAEQ-23764 provides the flexibility for the system to configure the ports for the appropriate application.

“The need to support the 12G-SDI interface has become a requirement in the industry. MACOM’s Bidirectional Equalizer/Cable Driver enables Village Island’s ability to streamline our VICO-4 system design and minimize the number of BNC connectors used,” said Michael Van Dorpe, President at Village Island. “This flexibility allows us to optimize cost and performance, both of which are extremely important to the broadcast industry, while also allowing us to future proof our product portfolio.”

“We introduced the industry’s first 12G-SDI Bidirectional device in anticipation of the need for configurable I/Os to support UHD,” said Mike Fukatsu, Director of Product Marketing, High-Performance Analog, at MACOM. “We are proud to offer our products and services to support innovative customers like Village Island.”

The MAEQ-23764 is currently in production and available in volume. MACOM will showcase a complete portfolio of cable equalizers, cable drivers, reclockers and crosspoint switches supporting 12G-SDI at NAB, Booth #N2924, April 24th-27th in Las Vegas, NV.
