Hitachi Elevator Chooses Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform for Digital Transformation

Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX), a leader in enterprise cloud computing, today announced its phased IT deployment with Hitachi Elevator (China) Co. Ltd., supporting the global leading elevator brand with its digital transformation ambition. The initial phase of the deployment program addresses the need to deliver a highly available system for critical applications, reducing IT costs including disaster recovery by nearly 50 percent, deployment time from weeks to days, and maintenance time from hours to minutes.

In the subsequent phase, key virtual machines and business systems were deployed on Nutanix, improving performance, stability and security. Finally, Hitachi Elevator’s intelligent functions for digital operations were enhanced, by deploying big data, remote surveillance and manufacturing execution system applications, as well as migrating other applications off a legacy multi-tier environment based on EMC storage, to the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform.

Faced with the rapid development of the company and intense competition in the market, Hitachi Elevator hopes to enlist the help of new IT systems to boost its business and reinforce its market differentiators. At the same time, it is keen to integrate its application software and systems to strengthen the digital transformation of the company.

As an ongoing effort to further reduce costs, Hitachi Elevator decided to adopt Nutanix AHV versus continuing with its original VMware vSphere virtualization solution. This fully integrated cloud based architecture, comes with full technical support, and requires no separate installation, which greatly reduces the cost of enterprise virtualization including licensing and management.

“The Nutanix solution can be scaled out, so we can simply add more nodes if we need to. With minimal management, demands for CPU, storage space and memory can be met very quickly. If there is a system glitch, we only need to go to Nutanix, without endless handoffs between vendors as we did before, which also streamlines the subsequent management process,” said Li Zhipeng, Head of Hitachi Elevator’s IT Department.

“The ease of use, flexible scalability, stability, reliability and security features of AHV, fully meet the requirements of Hitachi Elevator’s information system for virtualization software and our budget reduction plan,” added Li Zhipeng.

After a detailed process of investigation, discussion, feasibility studies and testing, Hitachi Elevator selected Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform. “The Nutanix solution fully met Hitachi Elevator’s urgent need for long-distance disaster recovery. Among all the tested products, Nutanix was the only one with a built-in disaster recovery function, which makes it easy to execute application-level remote disaster recovery,” Li Zhipeng concluded.

Matt Young, SVP and Head of Asia-Pacific and Japan, Nutanix said, “The easy to use and flexible scalability of the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform and AHV has solved many problems existing in the legacy datacenter architecture, such as the operational and datacenter complexity, siloed deployments for different workloads and difficulties with expansion. We look forward to continue helping forward-looking organizations like Hitachi Elevator to achieve its digital transformation objectives and to leveraging valuable data and information to its fullest.”
