LTE for IoT chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) today announced that its Calliope LTE Cat 1 Platform is powering Geotab’s new GO8Ⓡ device, an open-platform telematics solution for fleet management unveiled this week at Mobile World Congress. The GO8 delivers a comprehensive set of telematics features including GPS, g-force monitoring, accurate engine diagnostics, accident detection and notification, near real-time vehicle data, fast GPS acquisition time, auto-calibrating accelerometer performance, and end-to-end security.

The Geotab GO8 device is LTE-enabled by Sequans’ Calliope LTE Platform, an-IoT-optimized chipset solution designed specifically for LTE Cat 1 applications needing up to 10 Mbps of throughput, an ideal speed for Geotab’s fleet tracking and telematics application. Calliope comprises baseband and RF, an integrated IoT applications processor running Sequans’ carrier-proven LTE protocol stack, an IMS client, and a comprehensive software package for over-the-air device management and packet routing.
