Royal® Building Products’ Celect® Cellular Composite Siding Receives Product Compliance with the National Building Code of Canada 2015

Royal® Building Products, a Westlake company, received product compliance from the National Building Code (NBC) of Canada 2015 for its premium siding, Celect® Cellular Composite Siding. The compliance report, issued by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC), now allows building professionals throughout Canada to quickly approve the use of Celect products for new construction or remodeling projects.

The report outlines the following details:

  • Celect 4" and 7" horizontal clapboard siding, as well as Celect vertical board and batten siding, is approved for use on Part 9 buildings three stories and less.
  • Horizontal profiles can be installed directly over wood sheathing and code-required water resistant barriers in areas with a moisture index of less than one.
  • Horizontal profiles must be installed over a 10mm air space in areas with a moisture index of one or more.
  • Celect 8” board and batten must be installed over a 10mm air space in all applications.

“Receiving this product compliance presents a tremendous opportunity for building officials in Canada,” said Gary Taylor, vice president of sales, Royal Building Products. “Celect is a different style of cladding choice so it was important that the CCMC issue this report proving that the product meets the NBC.”

Celect Cellular Composite Siding replicates the beauty and aesthetics of wood while remaining low maintenance and durable on the home. All of Celect’s profiles are available in 15 fade-resistant colors and feature Royal’s patented interlocking seam design. For the professional, the product is lightweight and easy to install without the need for special tools.
