European Structured Finance 2021 Year in Review

This commentary summarises the key trends in Europe’s structured finance market in 2021. In the European securitisation market, issuance kicked off the year strongly, even though much of the continent was still in lockdown, and ended the year with record distributed issuance volumes post-global financial crisis. Overall in 2021, total issuance was EUR 238 billion, fairly evenly split between distributed (EUR 117 billion) and retained (EUR 121 billion) issuance levels.
