DBRS Limited (DBRS) published a commentary that looks at whether pumped hydroelectric storage can increase renewable integration. Over the past decade, a considerable amount of intermittent renewable energy capacity -- particularly wind and solar -- has been brought online worldwide. The level of intermittent renewable capacity is expected to continue to increase as governments like Alberta and California target generating a greater share of their electricity supply from renewable sources.
