Container shipping equities

Maersk is a company in transition, largely subjected to the same industry risks as HL but affected by challenges pertaining to its new strategy. The company’s share has declined 29% YTD (as of 3 March) - the most among all major liner stocks due to fears surrounding Coronavirus and a downgrade in EBITDA expectation for this year by the management. Maersk’s ongoing efforts to transform the business from a conglomerate into a pure-play logistics company have also weighed on valuation, with the company’s stock currently trading under DKK 7,000. In contrast, HL’s valuation has been more resilient partly led by consolidation of stake by two of its anchor shareholders last year.
