Star Bulk Carriers (SBLK US) 2Q18 Result Update

Star Bulk posted a third consecutive net profit of USD 10.7m in the second quarter of 2018, while also successfully closed its recently reported transactions increasing the fleet size to 105 vessels. The improvement in performance is owed to the increase in average time charter equivalent revenue to USD 13,567pd in the second quarter from USD 9,746 in the same quarter last year and USD 12,586 in the previous quarter. At the same time, the dry bulk major successfully managed to keep the average operating expenses at USD 4,096pd, a level similar to ~USD 4,000 reported in the previous five quarters.

Co.'s vessels transport a range of major and minor bulk commodities, including ores, coal, grains and fertilizers, along worldwide shipping routes.
