Initiation: In from the cold

Kun-Manie is among the 20 largest nickel sulphide deposits in the world
and the award of a production licence this year (until 2035) allows Amur
Minerals (AMC) to shift its strategy from one of exploration to one of preproduction.
A pre-feasibility study on the project was completed by SRK in
2007 and envisaged a 4.0Mtpa operation. However, this has now been
superseded by subsequent technical work, with the result that Amur now
envisages a 6.0Mtpa operation producing over 15 years, together with an
owner-operated smelter in lieu of the earlier toll smelting strategy.

On 4 November, Amur announced it had raised Â£1.2m (gross) via the issue of 70.6m shares at a price of 1.7p per share from an asset manager â€˜specialising in natural resourcesâ€™. This share issue is of material importance in advancing Amur towards completion of its mandatory Russian feasibility study (TEO) for its Kun-Manie nickel copper suphide project in Russiaâ€™s Far East. Due in December 2020, information included in the independently compiled TEO will also be incorporated in subsequent western feasibility study work.

On 26 February, Amur Minerals announced the long-awaited results of its updated pre-feasibility study (PFS) into its Kun-Manie project in Russiaâ€™s Far East. In contrast to previous studies, the PFS considered just two options, namely a toll smelt option and a low-grade matte option, and dispensed with the high-grade matte and refinery options. On 26 February, Amur announced the long-awaited results of its updated pre-feasibility study (PFS) into its Kun-Manie project in Russiaâ€™s Far East. In contrast to previous studies, the PFS considered just two options, namely a toll smelt option and a low-grade matte option, and dispensed with the high-grade matte and refinery options. Detailed financial models are not yet available. However, both considered a 6Mtpa mining operation and results are comparable to those published by Edison in our note, Cobalt-plated nickel, published on 16 April 2018.

AGBA - A transformational deal

On 18 April, AGBA announced a surprise deal to acquire 100% of Triller Corp, a global AI-driven social video platform, in an all-stock transaction. Triller is privately-owned but has been independently valued at US$3.2bn. AGBA’s management is using a US$4bn valuation for the combined entity, in which AGBA shareholders will own 20% and Triller shareholders 80%. Norcros’s disposal of Johnson Tiles is the latest strategic activity taken by management to better allocate capital to fit with priorities. Last year it closed its UK adhesives operation. Norcros has a compelling investment case, where its new product development initiatives, market positioning and self-help initiatives allow it to take market share in both the UK and South Africa. Its rating is low at 6.0x FY24e P/E, which is attractive, especially when compared to its yield of 5.4% on its well-covered dividend. We retain our estimates and value the shares at 246p, implying c 30% upside.
