DeA Capital - Alternative manager with strong asset support
Over the past year, DeA Capital (DeA) has continued to make good progress in implementing the growth strategy for its alternative asset management (AAM) platform, comprising private equity, real estate and non-performing loans (NPLs). New fund launches have contributed to assets under management (AUM) growth of c 10% since end-FY16. Meanwhile, cash flow from its significant asset portfolio has remained strong, more than sufficient to fund co-investment in new fund launches, new direct investments and a continued high dividend distribution. After recent volatility in Italian markets, the yield is again more than 9% and the discount to our fair value of €1.72 per share is c 26%.DeA Capital is an alternative investment operator based in Italy. Co. which operates in both the Private Equity Investment and Alternative Asset Management businesses and heads the De Agostini Group in the area of financial investments. Co., which has "permanent" capital, and therefore is not restricted to a pre-set duration, has greater flexibility in optimizing the timing of entry and withdrawal from investments. In terms of investment policy, this flexibility allows Co. to adopt an approach based on value creation over the medium to long term. Co. maintains an investment portfolio of around Euro780 million and assets under management of approximately Euro11 billion.
