InMed Pharmaceuticals - Developing cannabinol (CBN)
InMed has announced that the cannabinoid that is the basis for both its epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and glaucoma programs is cannabinol (CBN). This puts InMed in an attractive position (especially from an intellectual property perspective) as other medical cannabis programs are focused on either tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and/or cannabidiol (CBD) for a variety of indications. Importantly, from a regulatory perspective, CBN is believed to have either slight or no psychoactivity, but it does have a number of beneficial effects including reducing inflammation and intraocular pressure (IOP).InMed Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company that specializes in developing cannabis-based botanical and non-botanical therapies through the Research and Development into the extensive pharmacology of Cannabinoids. Co. is utilizing its proprietary "Cannabinoid Drug Design Platform" to identify new bioactive compounds within the marijuana plant that interact with certain gene responsible for specific diseases. Co.'s research and intellectual properties will initially be focused on the development of several new cannabinoid based treatments for Ocular, Cancer & Angiogenesis, and Inflammation, Pain.
