Jupiter Green Investment Trust - Finding opportunities in emerging eco-trends

Jupiter Green Investment Trust (JGC) focuses on companies that are providing innovative solutions to environmental challenges, and as such is benefiting from the high level of public interest in issues such as reducing waste from single-use plastics. Fund manager Charlie Thomas reports, for instance, that plastic recycling specialist Tomra Systems â€“ JGCâ€™s second-largest holding â€“ has seen its share price rise over 45% in the past year as it wins new contracts around the world. JGCâ€™s portfolio is diversified by geography and industry, and includes companies grouped under three broad themes of resource efficiency, infrastructure and demographics. The managers note that the environmental challenges â€“ and hence the solutions to them â€“ are increasingly complex and interlinked, which arguably plays to the strengths of a team that has been specialising in â€˜greenâ€™ investment since the launch of the Jupiter Ecology Fund in 1988.

AUSTRIACARD - Solid Q324 supports FY24 outlook

AUSTRIACARD’s Q324 results confirmed the company made good progress towards its FY24 adjusted revenue and EBITDA targets. The sale of metal cards to banks, a new security printing contract in East Africa and a growing number of digital transformation projects helped generate adjusted revenue growth of 30% y-o-y in Q324 and 14% in the first nine months of 2024 (9M24). Adjusted operating profit grew 52% y-o-y in Q324 and 23% for 9M24, with operating margin expansion of 0.7pp to 10.2% for 9M24. With full-year guidance unchanged, we broadly maintain our forecasts.

HELLENiQ ENERGY - Margins troughed in Q3, expect Q4 improvement

HELLENiQ ENERGY’s Q324 results were held back by a weak refining environment, as previously guided by the company, but showed an impressive operational performance. The company noted that the Q424 refining margin is likely to be $2/bbl to $3/bbl above the average for Q3. Q3 refining sales volumes of 4.163m tonnes were up 8% y-o-y, adjusted EBITDA of €183m was down 54% y o y and adjusted net income of €49m was down 77% y-o-y.
