Update: Spotlight on cosmetic product development

RXi Pharmaceuticals (RXi) continues to make solid progress with its development pipeline. We anticipate one of two promising cosmeceutical candidates to enter human testing this year, moving forward on an expedited pathway for potential launch in 2019. We also expect data in H216 in all lead projects including RXI-109 in dermal scarring and in retinal scarring in wet AMD, and Samcyprone in cutaneous warts.

Update: Samcyprone data at AAD

At the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Summer Meeting, data from a pilot study of Samcyprone (diphenylcyclopropenone ointment) in the treatment of common warts was presented. Overall, 38.1% of subjects saw a greater than 50% clearance over seven weeks compared to 6.7% in the placebo arm (p=0.051). On a per-protocol basis, 47.6% saw greater than 50% clearance (p=0.011). A Phase IIa with an improved formulation and 10-week treatment period was initiated in December 2015, with enrolment expected to be completed by year-end 2016.

Datatec - FY24 underlying EPS more than doubles y-o-y

In a second more detailed trading update for FY24, Datatec confirmed revenue growth of 6% to $5.46bn, with Westcon International delivering excellent performance, Logicalis International having a strong H2 and Logicalis Latin America affected by difficult market conditions in Argentina and Brazil. The company also provided provisional EPS data, with reported EPS likely to come in ahead of our forecast and underlying EPS just below our forecast. We maintain our forecasts pending FY24 results on or around 27 May.

Pan American Silver - La Arena divestment

Pan American Silver (PAAS) has announced a sale of the La Arena and La Arena II projects to Zijin Mining for US$245m in cash, US$50m in a contingent payment and a 1.5% NSR gold royalty. La Arena II is a copper and gold sulphide deposit that sits underneath the currently producing La Arena gold project. We view the transaction as positive for PAAS, given La Arena’s very short mine life, significant capex required to bring La Arena II into production and the fact that copper is not PAAS’s core commodity.
