LONDON - August 18, 2017 - ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm on trends in the global ETF/ETP ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in Europe gathered net inflows of US$10.16 Bn in July marking the 33rd month of consecutive inflows.
Year to date, net inflows stand at a record US$74.02 Bn which is more than double the net inflows of US$31.74 Bn at this point last year and more than the record US$55.69 Bn gathered in all of 2016.
YTD through end of July 2017, ETF/ETP assets have increased by 22.2% from US$573 Bn to reach a new record US$700 Bn.
At the end of July 2017, the European ETF/ETP industry had 2,292 ETFs/ETPs, with 7,252 listings, assets of US$700 Bn, from 60 providers listed on 27 exchanges in 21 countries.
“Most equity markets continued to see gains in July. The S&P 500 gained 2% with Telecom and Info Tech the top performing sectors, up 6% and 4%, respectively. International equities, and especially emerging markets, were up 3% and 6%, respectively. Political risks remain a focus for investors - the ability of the Trump administration to move forward on policy goals and hearings on Capitol Hill, Brexit negotiations, and North Korea is still an area of concern.” According to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner at ETFGI.
Equity ETFs/ETPs received net inflows of US$6.25 Bn in July, bringing year to date net inflows to a record US$43.10 Bn, which is greater than the net outflows of $1,742 Mn over the same period last year.
Fixed income ETFs and ETPs experienced net inflows of US$2.75 Bn in July, growing year to date net inflows to US$19.80 Bn, which is less than the same period last year which saw net inflows of US$22.20 Bn.
Commodity ETFs/ETPs accumulated net inflows of US$810 Mn in July. Year to date, net inflows are at US$7.75 Bn, which is below the net inflows of US$10.11 Bn gathered over the same period last year.
iShares gathered the largest net ETF/ETP inflows in July with US$4,491 Mn, followed by Xtrackers with US$1,822 Mn and UBS ETFs with US$1,796 Mn net inflows.
YTD, iShares gathered the largest net ETF/ETP inflows US$24.08 Bn, followed by UBS ETFs with US$9.30 Bn and Lyxor AM with US$8.80 Bn net inflows.
