The Bulgarian equity market delivered a relatively calm and subdued performance during the holiday-shortened week, as investors largely chose to remain on the sidelines, refraining from strong, market-driven actions. This lack of enthusiasm was evident across the board and the benchmark SOFIX index edged slightly higher, gaining 0.3% to close at 1 223.17 points. Similarly, the broader indices showed only marginal movements. The extended BGBX40 rose modestly to 211.20 points (+0.2%), while the BGTR30 slipped slightly to 1 029.23 points (-0.1%), both maintaining a relatively tight trading range throughout the week. Among the companies we track, the top weekly performer was SOFIX constituent Chimimport (CHIM, EUR 0.47), which advanced by an impressive 13.5%. It was followed by poultry producer Gradus (GR6, EUR 0.60), up 7.1%, and Shelly Group (SLYG, EUR 55.40), which gained 6.5%. On the downside, Trace Group Hold (T57, EUR 3.20) led the decliners with a drop of 7.5%, followed by benchmark member Eurohold Bulgaria (EUBG, EUR 1.02), which fell by 6.4%. As expected, the shortened trading week, combined with the absence of some market participants, weighed heavily on overall market activity. Both turnover (-56.7% YTD) and trading volumes (-94.2%) came in significantly below typical levels, highlighting the subdued investor engagement during the period.
