Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. Demonstrates New Medical Device developed for Haemoband Surgical, Ltd.
Haemoband’s Cologuide features patented Bend Sensor® technology
DRAPER, Utah, Sept. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. () is pleased to announce a new Cologuide presentation from their strategic Partner, Haemoband Ltd. as Haemoband readies for the commercial launch of the product. The Cologuide, utilizing patented Bend Sensor® technology, can be used with almost any make of colonoscope and uses Bluetooth wireless technology to send the data from the procedure.
Haemoband Surgical identified Flexpoint technology as the appropriate technology for this application. Because of their unique expertise in bend sensor technology, Flexpoint was subsequently appointed as the principle subcontractor for the project and has enjoyed working in a collaborative effort with Haemoband on this and other medical applications for the past several years.
Cologuide can be safely used in patients with cardiac pacemakers as well as pregnant women. Some of the benefits of the system with the sensor are:
- The product provides help with massive reduction in colonoscopy procedure time with less effort
- Allows greater comfort to the patient
- Helps experienced clinician by demonstrating what they need to know
- Has a positive effect on refining colonoscopy skills of the clinician
- Is an effective aid in training of new clinicians
Once activated, the sensor shows on the screen and is then placed into the colonoscope device. Once the colonoscopy device is inserted the sensor is displayed on the screen and indicates the positioning of the colonoscope as it is advanced to the other end of the large intestine. In the demonstration, the cameras are set simultaneously to show what is happening to the colon inside the abdomen, what the Cologuide screen shows, and what the clinician does.
