Nexstim Plc (NXTMH:HEX, NXTMS:STO) (jäljempänä Nexstim tai Yhtiö) kertoo tuoreimmat tiedot pilottitutkimuksesta, jossa tutkitaan nopeutetun iTBS-protokollan käyttöä kroonisen neuropaattisen kivun hoidossa Nexstim NBT® -järjestelmällä Helsingin yliopistollisessa sairaalassa.

Yhtä potilasta lukuun ottamatta potilaiden hoito tässä yhteensä viisi potilasta käsittävässä pilottitutkimuksessa on toteutunut vuoden 2021 kolmannen neljänneksen loppuun mennessä. Nexstim on tyytyväinen pilottitutkimuksen etenemiseen koronapandemian aiheuttamissa poikkeuksellisissa olosuhteissa.

Nopeutettu iTBS tarkoittaa hoitoa kallon läpäisevällä magneettisella stimuloinnilla (TMS), jossa stimulointia annetaan useita kertoja päivässä yksittäisten päivien aikana. Perinteisessä kivun TMS-hoidossa stimulointia annetaan kerran päivässä useiden viikkojen ajan.

Helsingin yliopistollisen sairaalan pilottitutkimuksessa nopeutetun iTBS-protokollan tehokkuutta testataan viidellä hoitoresistentistä kroonisesta neuropaattista kivusta kärsivällä potilaalla. Tutkimukseen osallistuvat potilaat, eivät ole saaneet apua aiemmasta motoriseen aivokuoreen kohdistetusta tavanomaisesta 10 Hz:n rTMS-hoidosta.

Nexstim ilmoitti aiemmin 1.7.2021, että pilottitutkimuksessa mukana olleiden potilaiden hoito oli alkanut suunnitellusti ja että usean potilaan hoito oli päättynyt. Tuolloin Nexstim arvioi, että potilaiden hoito jatkuisi vuoden 2021 kolmannella neljänneksellä.

Aiemman ilmoituksen mukaisesti pilottitutkimuksen tulokset julkaistaan niiden tultua saataville.

Lisäksi Nexstim markkinoi kehittämäänsä, SmartFocus® TMS teknologiaan perustuvaa NBS (Navigated Brain Stimulation) -laitteistoa. Nexstimin NBS-laitteisto on ainoa FDA:n hyväksymä ja CE-merkitty navigoiva TMS-laitteisto liikeaivokuoren ja aivojen puhealueiden leikkausta edeltävää kartoitusta varten. Nexstimin osakkeet on listattu Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finlandin ja Nasdaq First North Growth Market Swedenin markkinapaikoilla.
