Nationally Acclaimed Theater Critic Chris Jones Brings His Theater News and Reviews to the New York Daily News

Nationally Acclaimed Theater Critic Chris Jones Brings His Theater News and Reviews to the New York Daily News

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The New York Daily News announced today that nationally acclaimed theater critic Chris Jones will bring his theater coverage to the New York Daily News. From Broadway to Off-Broadway and beyond, New York Daily News readers will now have access to theater news and definitive reviews from one of the most influential theater critics in America as named by American Theatre magazine (2001).

Jones will continue to be the chief theater critic and Sunday columnist for the Chicago Tribune, where he has worked since 2002. Jones will now also cover New York’s theater scene for the New York Daily News.

A longtime advocate for the theater audience, his sophisticated coverage reflects a deep understanding of culture, politics and ideas of the moment. He will help Daily News readers grasp Broadway's crucial role in the New York economy. He'll show you where the money goes--and what makes a flop and a hit.

Jones has been covering Broadway and its tours for more than 25 years, beginning at Variety. His work has also appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and American Theatre. In 2014, Jones became the director of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Critics Institute in Waterford, Connecticut. And in 2015, he was the winner of Cornell University's George Jean Nathan Award for Dramatic Criticism.

"We're thrilled to have such an iconic and respected theater critic cover New York’s theater

scene for the Daily News. Our print and digital audience will now have access to Chris’s valuable theater insights and respected theater reviews,” said New York Daily News Editor Robert York.

Jones has a new book, "Rise Up!  Broadway and American Society from "Angels in America' to 'Hamilton'" coming out this November from Bloomsbury's Methuen.
