FLASH: UK PMIs recover trend growth in May-18

- The UK’s services PMI completed its recovery from the cold weather with its rise of 1.2-points to 54.0 in May, thereby supporting my lack of concern about April.
- The better-quality manufacturing data have also been recovering with the weather, although IP will be restrained slightly in Q2 by the fall in utility output.
- All three UK PMIs beat consensus expectations and are broadly in line with their post-referendum average, which is consistent with the old trend pace of growth returning at a lower level. This mix reassuringly fits the BoE’s (and my) view.
