1) Investment highlights

  • -  After fluctuating wildly last year, the stock has calmed down somewhat since the beginning of the year as the impacts of external factors dissipate.

  • -  Stock sentiment would improve and deteriorate repeatedly but in 2018, a favorable base combined with improving external conditions, earnings momentum, and an expanding US business bode well for the company.

  • -  Sales in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and the US (Cosmax USA) rose 27.3%, 37.5%, and 44.7% YoY respectively. Combined with the KRW120bn in sales generated by NUWorld (US-based firm that Cosmax bought last year), Cosmax’s consolidated sales in 2018 should jump 31.5% YoY on a 5.3% operating margin (+1.3%p YoY).

  • -  Despite an uncertain sector outlook, Cosmax’s earnings rebound and M&A momentum should stand out.
