1. Bajaj Auto: March volumes below estimate at 272k; -10% YoY; Motorcycle volumes decline 8% YoY; Commercial vehicles down 33% YoY

  • ​BJAUT's March 2017 sales fell 11% YoY to 272,197 units (est. of ~303,848 units). Domestic volumes declined 17% YoY (+6% MoM), while exports grew only ~2% YoY due to a low base. Overall FY17 volumes declined ~6% YoY to 3.67m units.
  • Domestic volumes fell 17% YoY to 169.3k units (est. of 193k units). On MoM basis, domestic volumes grew 6%.
  • Motorcycle volumes declined ~8% YoY. Domestic motorcycle sales declined 14% YoY to 151.4k; while there was MoM recovery, YoY growth still continues to be under pressure. Motorcycle exports grew 6% YoY, mainly due to a low base of last year.
  • Dominar crossed 10,000 units in sales in the fourth quarter. March alone saw sales of ~3,000-4,000 units, as per management.
