Over the past two years, central India has emerged as a key geography driving incremental growth for FMCG companies. Against this backdrop, we did some channel checks to understand more about the companies, products and SKUs doing well (and not so well) in this region.

The sample size for channel checks will always form a small part of the existing universe, and thus, there can be limitations that ultimately affect conclusions. Nevertheless, such exercises are relevant to understand the on-ground scenario in this important region.

Key takeaways from channel checks in central India:

Dabur is now doing well in most categories, particularly the ones where it had lost share to Patanjali.
Both Britannia and Parle are doing well in this region.
Patanjali does not seem to be reviving in terms of growth.
Page Industries is seeing strong growth in central India.
Cash & carry (Metro and Walmart) and D-Mart stores are affecting sales of distributors and retailers.
