Indian steel: Long product (TMT Mumbai) prices were down ~2% WoW. Sponge iron prices were down ~4% WoW while domestic scrap prices were unchanged. NMDC announced price cuts of ~INR200/t on lumps/fines. Pellet prices were unchanged. Domestic HRC prices were up ~3 WoW.
Raw Materials: Iron ore prices (China cfr) were down ~3% WoW. Thermal coal prices were up ~1% WoW. Coking coal prices were up ~4% WoW on likelihood of production cuts in China. China pellet import prices were up ~3% WoW, driving by higher pellet premiums.
Europe: HRC prices were unchanged. EU steel spreads are lower on weak steel prices and rising iron ore and coking coal. CIS export HRC prices were up ~3% WoW. Rotterdam scrap prices were up ~2% WoW.
China: Local HRC prices were up ~2% WoW, while rebar prices were unchanged WoW. Steel inventories are declining. Export HRC/rebar prices were up ~3/6% WoW.
Base metals: Aluminum (cash LME) was up ~1% WoW. Alumina prices were lower. Zinc (cash LME) was up ~1% WoW. Lead was unchanged. Copper was down ~2% WoW. Crude oil (Brent) prices were down ~3% WoW.
