METALS WEEKLY: Domestic steel prices stable

Indian steel: Long product (TMT Mumbai) prices were down ~1% WoW. Sponge iron and domestic scrap prices were unchanged WoW. Domestic iron ore prices were unchanged after increasing last week. Pellet prices were higher. Domestic HRC prices were unchanged. However, import offers were marginally lower.
Raw materials: Iron ore prices (China cfr) were up ~1% WoW. Thermal coal prices were unchanged. Coking coal prices were up ~1% WoW on expectation of supply disruption in Australia. China’s pellet import prices were up ~1% WoW. Chinese graphite electrode prices were unchanged WoW.
Europe: HRC prices were down ~4% WoW. CIS HRC export prices were unchanged. Rotterdam scrap prices were up ~4% WoW.
China prices stable: Chinese local HRC and rebar prices were marginally lower. Export rebar and HRC prices, however, were unchanged. Chinese crude steel production rose ~12% YoY in May 2018.
Base metals: Aluminum (cash LME) was down ~2% WoW. Alumina prices were lower WoW. Copper (cash LME) was down ~2% WoW. Zinc (cash LME) prices were unchanged, while lead prices were down ~1% WoW. Brent crude prices were down ~4% WoW.
