METALS WEEKLY: India long steel product prices continue weakening; EU prices also decline

Indian steel: Long product (TMT Mumbai) prices were down ~2% WoW. Sponge iron prices were also down ~4% WoW, while scrap prices were down ~2% WoW. Domestic iron ore prices were unchanged. Pellet prices were also unchanged. Domestic HRC prices were unchanged, while import offers were marginally lower.
Raw materials: Iron ore prices (China cfr) were up ~2% WoW. Thermal coal prices were up ~1% WoW. Coking coal prices were also up ~10% WoW. China’s pellet import prices were down ~1% WoW. Chinese graphite electrode prices were marginally lower.
Europe: HRC prices were down ~5% WoW. CIS HRC export prices were down ~1% WoW. Rotterdam scrap prices were up ~3% WoW.
China steel prices: Chinese local rebar and HRC prices were marginally lower WoW. Export price of rebar was higher, but HRC prices were down ~1% WoW.
Base metals: Aluminum (cash LME) prices were down ~4% WoW. Alumina prices were lower WoW. Copper (cash LME) prices were up ~2% WoW. Zinc (cash LME) prices were up ~1%, while lead prices were up ~3% WoW. Brent crude prices were down ~4% WoW.
