METALS WEEKLY: Steel prices stable; Thermal coal prices down ~6%

Indian steel: Long product (TMT Mumbai) prices remained largely unchanged WoW. Sponge iron prices declined ~1% WoW, while scrap prices decreased ~2% WoW. Iron ore prices were unchanged. Pellet prices were flat WoW. Domestic HRC prices were down ~1% WoW. Export price offers were slightly lower, while import offers were unchanged.
Raw materials: Iron ore prices (China CFR) were unchanged WoW. Thermal coal prices were down ~6%. Coking coal prices decreased ~3% WoW. China’s pellet import prices increased ~2% WoW. Chinese graphite electrode prices were slightly lower WoW.
Europe: HRC prices were slightly lower. CIS HRC export prices were unchanged WoW. Rotterdam scrap prices were down ~1% WoW.
China steel prices: Chinese HRC prices were unchanged WoW, while Rebar prices were slightly higher. Export prices for rebar and HRC were largely flat WoW.
Base metals: Aluminum (cash LME) was down ~4% WoW. Alumina prices inched up ~1% WoW. Copper (cash LME) was down ~1% WoW. Zinc (cash LME) was up ~5% WoW. Lead (cash LME) was largely flat WoW. Brent crude prices were up ~2% WoW.
