Market Commentaries

 

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index decreased by 0.95% at 219.58 points, and record a negative annual performance so far at 7.81%. The BRVM 10 index is down by 1.15% at 206.34 points, and in overall it is down by 4.08% since the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 1.979 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 699 200 shares against 1 180 552 shares last week.

 

The market breadth was positive (w/w) with 12 gainers and 22 laggards. At the sector level, Chemical index was the best performer, surging by 12.50% at 22.34 points. And Edition Publication index acknowledged the most significant drop (-19.63%) at 262.99 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

NEI CEDA CI (XOF 535) which fell by 19.63% and remains in a negative trend since the publication of its financial year result (Net Income drop by XOF 68.632 million). The bad performance of the Agro-processing sector, whose index lost 2.44 points, is mainly due to the down by -14.37% of SAPH CI (XOF 3 070). SETAO CI has crumbled by 7.69%, draining then XOF 811 200 of his capital to close at XOF 300. SAFCA CI dropped by 7.14% for a price of XOF 6 500. Finally, TOTAL CI closed to XOF 2 000 for a 4.76% drop.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

AIR LIQUIDE CI (+12.50%), which shows the most substantial evolution by ending at XOF 450. SOGB CI closed at XOF 3 225 regained color after a decline trend for two consecutive weeks, showing an improvement of 11.59%.BOA SENEGAL (+11.43%) progress from XOF 2 100 to XOF 2 340. After this day of trading, BOLLORE TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS rose by 10.00% at XOF 3 300. Finally BOA NIGER (XOF 4 400) close the list with an increase of +4.76%.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

 

The bond market ended this week with an increase of 0.46% at XOF 3 327.12 billion against XOF 3 342.43 billion last week. The reason for this down is the partial reimbursement of the bonds “ETAT DU MALI 6.20% 2016-2023”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 67 501 999 for 8 800 bonds traded. The bond “SHELTER AFRIQUE 6.60% 2014-2021” with 5 000 bonds for XOF 29 502 000 was the most liquid, representing 43.71% of the total value traded.
