Market Commentaries

 

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) maintain a positive performance (w/w). By the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index increased by 0.15% at 241.30 points. However, in overall since the start of the year, it is up by 1.31%. The BRVM 10 index grew by 1.02% at 218.55 points. Recording a positive annual performance so far at 1.59%. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 3.52 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 3 220 884 shares against 1 613 858 shares last week.

 

The market breadth was positive (w/w) with 17 gainers and 21 laggards. At the sector level, Edition Publication index was the best performer, surging by 37.04% at 113.15 points. However, Agro-processing index acknowledged the most significant drop (-22.42%) at 85.18 points.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SETAO CI (+40.00%), which shows the most substantial evolution by ending at XOF 490 continue to confirm its good shape. NEI-CEDA (XOF 185) shows a strong progress of 37.04% with a gain of XOF 50. NESTLE CI rose by +25.40% at XOF 2 765. With a price of XOF 3 235, MOVIS CI has boosted the Transport sector index (+4.62%). AIR LIQUIDE CI once again closed this bullish list with a 10.16% growth for a price of XOF 705.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

SAPH CI which fell this week by 8.88% to end at XOF 4 000. BOA BURKINA-FASO ranks second in this register with a decrease of 8.71% for a price of XOF 6 290. UNIWAX CI confirm its drop observed last week and closed at XOF 2 915 for a decline of 8.48%. SICABLE CI has crumbled by 7.89%, draining then XOF 99 817 760 of his capital to close at XOF 1 750. Finally, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS CI continue sliding down for the fourth week now to stand at XOF 213 950 for a 7.89% drop.

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

 

The bond market ended the week with a decrease of 0.46% at XOF 2 938.04 billion against XOF 2 951.51 billion last week. The reason for this down is the loss of XOF 949 on the price of the bond “TPCI 6% 2016-2028”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 4 590 215 for 509 798 bonds traded. The bond “ETAT SENEGAL 6.50% 2014-2021” with 250 000 bonds for XOF 2 000 000 000 was the most liquid, representing 43.57% of the total value traded.
