Equity market Summary

 Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) maintain a positive performance (w/w). By the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index increased by 0.81% at 230.69 points. However, in overall since the start of the year, it is still down by 3.15%.  The BRVM 10 index surged by 0.43% at 211.35 points. Also recording a negative annual performance so far at 1.75%. The market total volume of shares traded this week was at XOF 2.139 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 34 881 051 shares against 34 881 051 shares last week.

The market breadth was positive (w/w) with 20 gainers and 13 laggards.  At the sectoral level, Publication index was the best performer, surging by 10% at 33.64 points.  However, Chemical index acknowledged the most significant drop (- 5.49%) at 22.87 points. 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

BOA SN (+15.91%), with the most substantial rise to close at XOF      2 950 and seems to flourish after its poor performance last week. SUCRIVOIRE gained +5.81% at XOF 1 100. The stock SAPH CI recorded +11.26% to reach XOF 4 050 and seems to start an upward trend. NEI-CEDA confirms its good shape by closing at XOF 55 with a 10% growth. BOLLORE T & L (XOF 4 350) shows a gain of XOF 350 with a jump of 8.75%.

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

NESTLE CI with the most significant drop (-9.09%) to XOF 2 000, seems to be in a downward trend. Crown SIEM ended at XOF 14 000, off-loads by -7.14% compared to the previous week, which leads the underperformance of the Packaging sector index to -3.09%. AIR LIQUIDE CI still dropping and now by 5.49% at XOF 430. BOA CI has crumbled by 4.26%, draining then 17 724 845 of his capital to close at XOF 4 500. Finally, SITAB CI which lost -4.93% to stand at XOF 60 000, remains in a negative spiral that has been going on for several weeks now.

Bond Market Summary

The bond market ended the week with a slight drop of 0.02% at XOF 2 939.85 billion against XOF 2 940.30 billion last week, explained by the loss of XOF 20 on the bond price “TPCI 6.55% 2014-2022 ". The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 417.26 million for 41 748 bonds traded. The bond “SUKUK ETAT DU SENEGAL 6% 2016-2026” with 35 000 bonds for XOF 350 million was the most liquid, representing 83.88% of the total value traded.
