Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

 

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index increased by 1.17% at 221.35 points but record a negative annual performance so far at 7.07%. The BRVM 10 index is down by 0.23% at 205.67 points and in overall still down by 4.39% from the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 3.387 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 856 692 shares against 3 015 308 shares last week.

The market breadth was positive (w/w) with 21 gainers and   16 laggards. At the sector level, Automotive Suppliers index was the best performer, growing by 9.57% at 21.44 points. As for Packaging index, it acknowledged the most significant drop (-2.96%) at 39.22 points.

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

CFAO CI (+27.12%), which shows the most substantial rise to close at XOF 750. This positive trend has been observed since the publication of its first quarter result of 2018 (net income jump by 407.22%). SMB CI grew by 17.35% to reach XOF 19 950 in this trading session. The achievement of Agro-processing sector (+4.08%) is mainly due to SAPH CI (+15.32%) which close at XOF 3 200. This Friday, BOLLORE TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS CI (+12.68%) progressed from XOF 3 345 to XOF 4 000. And finally, with an evolution of 10.22%, TOTAL CI closed the list with a price of XOF 1 995 for a transaction volume of 20 645.

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

CROWN SIEM CI, which by falling further this week (-11.72%) to end at XOF 12 050, continues its bad trend observed since two weeks. We observed a decline of 6.05% from NSIA BANQUE to close at XOF 8 225. TRACTAFIC MOTORS CI has crumbled by 5.56% for a price of  XOF 170 000. This weak performance is mainly due to the publication of its 2017annual result (net income drop by 66.15%). PALM CI lost 4.33% to establish at XOF 3 200 in this trading session. Finally, SITAB CI (-2.13%) stand at          XOF 46 000, resulting in the reduction of the Tobacco Index performance by 0.66 points.  

 

 

  • Bond Market Summary

The bond market ended this week with a decrease of 0.49% at XOF 3 234.74 billion against XOF 3 250.79 billion last week. The reason for this down is the partial reimbursement of the bonds “SUKUK ETAT DE COTE D'IVOIRE 5.75% 2015-2020”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 283 050 000 for 28 305 bonds traded. The bond “ETAT SENEGAL 6.30% 2015-2025” with 27 800 bonds for XOF 278 000 000 was the most liquid, representing 98.22% of the total value traded.
