Market Commentaries

 

  • Equity market Summary

Market indexes (BRVM Composite & BRVM 10) ends with a negative performance (w/w). At the end of this week’s session, BRVM Composite index decreased by 1.27% at 216.02 points recording a negative annual performance so far at 9.31%. The BRVM 10 index is down by 1.21% at 202.65 points and in overall still down by 5.80% from the start of the year. The total market value of shares traded this week was at XOF 2.187 billion. Moreover, this week’s volume traded was 606 622 shares against 1 304 272 shares last week.

 

The market breadth was positive (w/w) with 16 gainers and 22 laggards. At the sector level, “Edition Publication” was the best performer, growing by 33.33% at 152.07 points. As for “Automotive Suppliers index”, it acknowledged the most significant drop (-10.78%) at 18.26 points.

 

The worst performances of the week were recorded by:

 

CFAO CI, which falls by 14.01%, to end at XOF 675. SODECI (-8.89%) closed at XOF 4 050 against XOF 4 445 last week. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS CI (XOF 137 000) has crumbled by 7.43% and continue its negative cycle for the several weeks now. SMB CI did not sustain its positive performance observed last week and closed at XOF 19 490 for a drop of 6.75%. Finally, FILTISAC CI record a drop by 6.63% to reach a price of XOF 3 450.  

 

The best performances of the week were recorded by:

 

NEI CEDA CI (+33.33%), which shows the most substantial rise to close at XOF 200. The achievement of Chemical sector (+15.85 points on the week) is mainly due to AIR LIQUIDE CI which closed at XOF 475. This Friday UNILEVER CI rose by 15.54% at XOF 12 340. SETAO CI grew by 14.58% to reach at XOF 275 in this trading session. And finally, with an evolution of 9.69%, TOTAL CI ended the list with a price of XOF 1 925 for a transaction volume of 807.

 

  • Bond Market Summary

 

The bond market ended this week with a decrease of 0.11% at XOF 3 227.22 billion against XOF 3 230.72 billion last week. The reason for this down is the loss of XOF 150 on the price of the bonds “TPCI 5.95% 2017-2024 - A”. The total value traded on the market amounts to XOF 1 257 852 941 for 128 218 bonds traded. The bond “TPCI 6% 2016-2028” with 102 514 bonds for XOF 1 017 069 860 was the most liquid, representing 97.26% of the total value traded.
